About

Mike is a team Brooks runner who has represented Brooks in Sydney and in Hong Kong over the past five years. He focuses on 10k, half marathon and marathon distances with personal bests of 33:52 at 10k, 1:15:01 at the half marathon and 2:44:18 at the marathon.

Achievements include 7 race wins and more than 20 podium places, most recently running his marathon PB at the 2019 Canberra marathon and finishing 2nd at the 2019 Sydney 7km Sun Run.

Other highlights include winning the Port Macquarie Half Marathon in 2017, placing second in the Blacktown Half Marathon, 2016 and winning the 2016 Pub2Pub race.

In July 2016 he broke the world record for the fastest half in a suit, to raise awareness and funds for fragile X syndrome, a genetic condition that his son has. After missing the record by seconds in May, his second attempt broke the previous mark by 2.8 seconds at the Blacktown Running festival.

Mike works with coach Sean Williams, from the SWEAT Sydney club and is a sponsored athlete with Dynamic Motion Physio.

For training, Mike has been wearing the Brooks GTS Adrenaline for 6 years. He races in the Asteria and for trail running opts for the lightweight Mazama shoe.

Upcoming goals include running in the London marathon and setting a new costume world record in the Sydney Blackmores half marathon.

Mike spends his spare time with his two kids and is married to Sydney-born Helen. The whole family appeared in a Hong Kong ‘What is your Run Happy’ Brooks TV commercial. Outside of running Mike is the CEO of Xceptional which places autistic people in IT jobs.
