Mike is a Brooks sponsored athlete from the UK. he has represented Brooks in Sydney and in Hong Kong, for a total of three years. He focuses on 10k and half marathon distances with personal bests of 33:52 at 10k and 1:16:46 at the half marathon.

Achievements include 5 race wins and more than 20 podium places, most recently winning two 10k trail races in Hong Kong in 2016. In Sydney, Mike won the 2016 Pub2Pub race, placed 2nd at the Galston Gut Buster and ran a 34’12” in the Sydney Harbour 10k. In July he broke the world record for the fastest half in a suit, to raise awareness for fragile X syndrome, a genetic condition that his son has. After missing the record by seconds in May, his second attempt broke the current mark by 2.8 seconds at the Blacktown Running festival.

At the 2016 Blackmores Sydney Marathon Mike ran his debut marathon in 2:48:16. To step up to the full marathon he has been working with coach Sean Williams, from the SWEAT Sydney club.

For training, Mike has been wearing the Brooks GTS Adrenaline for the past 4 seasons. For trail running he opts for the lightweight but sturdy feel of the PureGrit. Mike races in the T7 for their lightweight and responsive feel.

Mike has two kids and is married to Sydney-born Helen. Last year, the family appeared in the ‘What is your Run Happy’ Brooks TV commercial. Outside of running Mike works in the nonprofit sector and is also a keen rower.
